During the war I worked in the munitions factory in Dursley Gloucestershire. I was involved using a Capstan Lathe on shell toppings which were used for detonating bombs.
I worked nights, there were often air raids and we had to go down the shelter. It was during one of the air raids I met a man called Harry.
I meet him several times down the shelter and we became very good friends even though I had never seen him. It was always dark in the air raid shelter so I did not know what he looked like when we first met I recognised him straight away by his beautiful Welch accent as he often sung in his tenor voice in the shelter.
He was called Harry Walters and was working at the time in a reserved occupation at home as a gear cutter. We fell in love and decided to get married
In 1945 we had a White Wedding in Berkley Church with family and Friends. It was unusual during the war to get married in white due to the lack of material. It was 9 months 26 days after we were married that our first child was born.
About 1 year after we were married .Harry signed up and did 2 years with the RAF. We had a further 2 children and were married for 46 years until his death.
