In our farmhouse the lighting was paraffin lamps and candles.

Our water was from a well pump which is a well with a pump erected over the top with a plunger adn clacker attached. you then moved the pump handle up and down and the water came up and was collected in buckets and taken indoors. With a family of eleven in total, a lot of water had to be pumped and carried every day.
