I was born in 1960 In Belgium , so I didn't experience the war myself . But I will always remember the story my mother told me about the confused days in september 1944 when the Polish and British were coming and the Germans were leaving .
A young German soldier was hit in the stomach and left behind by his comrades .
He was lying near the house where my mother and
grandparents were living at that time .
He was calling for his mother all night , but nobody came out to help him . By the morning , he had died .Was it hate or was it fear of retaliation ? I feel it is a horrible thing to do. War is horrible .
