My Father tells me about the night he was reporting for duty at the local auxillary Fire Station which was about l mile from our home.

He was cycling and noticed a german plane above which appeared to be following him. He went "hell for leather", reached his destination, threw his bike on the floor and dived under some covers. A bomb was dropped and fortunately for him it landed in a lorry full of sand and failed to explode.
