This story was given to me by Mr.Spence.
Mr. Spence came to our classroom and told us about the war. He told us he was born in 1929 he also told us that Rathmore Primary was a field for the evacuees. They lived in wooden huts.There was also dry toilets and a horse and cart picked up the sewage once a week.There was no running water you had to get a bucket and go down to the pump early in the morning.you filled your bucket full of water and go back to your home.Mr.Spence went to a school in Crawfordsburn. It was along building with two rooms in it.When the evacuees came to that school they had to hire another teacher and they had to put up a big curtain whitch touched the roof. There were the school kids on one side and evacuees on the other side. One day all of the children went out potato picking. They had them for their lunch . They really liked mashed potato and vegetables.
