I have done quite a few things in my life and I shall be 95 in August 2005. I am Lincolnshire born and bred at Walesby and my husband was born at Middle Rasen, Lincolnshire. When we married we took a Post Office and General store at Middle Rasen. I raised 2 boys and one girl. One of my boys became a Bishop in Venezuela. I used to be a children’s nanny to a Member of Parliament, the Heneage family. We moved to Louth as my husband was made manager for CG smith and Sons, Wholesale grocers who made soap, tallow etc. We lived in a new house called Southlands, Mablethorpe Rd, Louth when my daughter was a baby.

We didn’t have an Anderson Shelter —no one in Louth had. We got together with our neighbours and dug underground a brick shelter with electricity fitted in it — we all shared this shelter.
