I remember......
vapour trails in the sky over Salford.
land army girls digging on Duchy road
running to an air raid shelter and looking towards Manchester at blood red skies. I can still hear the air raid wardens shouting 'get that light out!'
in Pendleton I remember watching a Lancaster come crashing down on Langley road and dredging the Irwell for parts.
I remember taking waste food to a pigswill bin outside our air raid shelter and picking up shrapnel in a school playground.
In Blackpool I watched troops parade on Collaseum car park.
I remember London street school took a direct hit and our infant school had bomb damage on Primrose Hill.
Aek-Aek-Battery camp at Agecroft.
Playing in Bill Lines metal air raid shelter under the table.
