My uncle was born 3rd August 1919 & was in service on the HMS Hood at the age of 21 this was his first ship. On 24th May 1941 he was blown up along with 1200 other service men. Douglas was an assistant cook before the Bismark hit HMS Hood. According to my mother he was always a jolly fun muscial man. He left a young wife behind. Myself and my two sisters visit the memorale site based at Porthsmouth to lay flowers as our way of remembering my dear uncle.
