This story has been submitted by Alison Tebbutt, Derby CSV Action Desk on behalf of Mrs M Scott. The author has given her permission and understand's the site's terms and conditions.

My husband's name was Bernard. He was a prisoner of war in Germany. As there was no hope of seeing my husband until after the war, I joined the Women's Land Army and served for years in Suffolk.

We were married on the 30th November 1940. We had one week together (during the Sheffield blitz) and did not meet again until May 24th 1945.
