We did not go to the school shelters when the siren was sounded as we had had too many false alarms. However, the senior boys were sent out on lookout to warn of enemy aircraft. One day the lads yelled 'Duck' and all the pupils plunged under their desks. A bomb was dropped which landed on the shelters. No damage was suffered by the occupied classrooms! The only windows affected by the blast were in vacant rooms because the teacher had flu and the class was put in with annother class. A miraculous escape!
