My lovely Dad passed away 11 years ago and we did'nt find out until then what a dangerous job he had. He used to row out in a wooden boat to mines taking the officers who had to disarm them.We are all so proud of him. He never wore his medals and he had at least 6.He said they meant nothing. The friends he lost meant more. The only badge he did think anything off was his Mine sweeping one. My Dad always called it Harry Tates Navy. Can anyone tell me why?
