I was nearly seven when the war started and went to my grandparents home.We thats my mother and myself left London on one of the last trains on September third,1939.The first siren went as we arrived at my Nans house. My grandfather was a Quartermaster on board the Hospital Ship,The Maid of Kent, which was bombed while at the dockside in Dieppe,it was totally destroyed and my Grandfather with others escaped cross-country and then on a fishing boat back to England.When he arrived back,his hair had turned pure white
