This story was submitted to the People's War site by the CSV Action Desk at 大象传媒 Gloucestershire on behalf of Clive Kent with his permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

I was born in 1942, three years after war broke out and from the moment I was born I can remember the sound of aircraft flying overhead.

There was no play grounds where I was growing up, so we used to play in the streets and on the bomb sites, which was really quite fun. We used to throw bricks and pieces of debris, because that鈥檚 all we had.
