On May 11 1944. I was working in the garage, giving the cars the daily clean. This music started baring out from the next building.
As I had just started work, I didn't understand the meaning of the music. But the music was the warning for an air raid about to happen.

We dropped everything and I followed the crowd to the air raid shelters in front of the main office block. We waited for the bombs. As it happened, no bombs were dropped in the area. The all clear sounded we just trooped back to work. That was the last of the hostilities in Bristol.

As I had only just started work, it was the only experience for me whilst at work.
