鈥淚t was a clear night with a full moon and George Morgan was on Home Guard duty. A fleeing German bomber dropped its final bomb, which fell on the house opposite us cutting a wedge out of the side of the house. George ran across and up the stairs and found a baby boy in a cot. He carried the child down and reunited it with its parents who were in the street. The blast had blown out our windows and back door and damaged the Post Office opposite run by Mr and Mrs Coombes. The granny of the family was brought over to our house to spend the rest of the night as Mr Coombes needed to keep watch over the Post Office money!鈥
