My father, Chief Petty Officer Jago, had been on The Hood, but was fortunately transferred just weeks before it went down.

My mother, sister and myself were living in Plymouth at Mutley Plain, when after an air raid we emerged from out air raid shelter to discover that our home was completely destroyed. We then moved in with my grandparents at Newton Abbott.
