My parents lived in Bedminster. My Father was home on leave. I had just been born. There was to be a party at the weekend to celebrate my birth and Dad's leave.
There was an air raid that night, Mum was talked into using the shelter as she now had another life to look after, this was just as well or I would not be telling this story now, because they were bombed. Nothing was left standing.
The next day they had to get to my Grandmothers home in Horfield, the tram took them to Glos. Rd . Walking down Toronto Rd, Dad spotted a chickens head lying on the floor. "Look Trix our chickens head landed this far away. (this was something they had bought(or reared and killed? for the party.)The house was completely flattened.
Later my dads letters to my Mum were returned to her from all over Bristol, although the bomb had destroyed our home some letter were whole not singed or burned.
I still have some letters today.
