Rationing was a main change in British Life as many people were used to a good quantity of food on their plates, no tsmall, pitiful rations. A rationing book would contain tickets and vouchers that would be used to buy your food amounts. Nowhere days you can buy eggs by the dozen, or half dozen, bu tin the war you could only buy 1 or 2 eggs a week, this all would have changed depneding on the siz eof your city or town. Many people would have bought their own seeds and grown their own foods to eat, and may even have had their own chickens and rabbits.
Earlier on I brought up the subject ofclothing being rationed, even wedding clothes! It would have taken many months just to buy the dress as you would have had to have tickets saved up. You could have gone to the government or council and ask for extra rationing tickets but this was not very common and they may have said there were more important things to think of. Also, wedding cakes were rationed as they were a high delicacy and you would of had to save for all the ingrediants. To round off this topic everything was rationed from the smallest rag of cloth to an elegant dress. one very important thing and most surprising was that rationing books were stil used until 1951 -2.
