It was the longest raid in Birmingham (13 hours and 10 minutes)and I had just been dropped off from night school. My mum told me that we had to go and see if my Nan was ok. As we walked past, we noticed that Friston Street was down to the ground. Just before the raid started I had dropped my friend off at her house on Friston Street and her and all her family, the Rileys, died. My sister Millie had to go and identify their bodies because she remembered what the mother鈥檚 signet ring looked like.
