Coming from the docklands of London. I was among 21. The first batch of evacuees to be sent out of harms way.
My recollections of that day was being taken to the station; we all had gas masks and lables pinned to our front saying who we were. I remember the Red Cross coming along giving us. Pollipops. Our journey finished
