WHEN I WAS ON THE MILK ROUND WE HAD HORSE PULLED CARTS, AND THE MILK WAS RATIONED AND YOU HAD TO REMEMBER WHAT THE ALLOWONCE WAS FOR THE CUSTOMER,THE PEIPLE WITH BABIES GOT EXTRA FOR THE CHILD.WHEN I WORKED FOR THE PETROLEOM BOARD,WE DELIVERED PARIFIN TO SHOPS AND FARMS.THE FARM ONE WAS CALLED VAPOURISING OIL FOR THE TRACTORS,AND FOR OIL LAMPS IT WAS CALLED BURNING OIL.WE ALSO DELIVERED TO WELBECK ABBEY.RUFFORD ABBEY AND I THINK THORSEBY HALL.TO VISIT THESE YOU HAD TO HAVE A IDENTITY CARD WITHYOUR PICTURE IN AS THEY WERE ARMY DEPOT FOR GRENADIER, IRISH AND SCOTS GUARDS,AND CUCKNEY WOODS WAS WHERE THE RAF HAD MATERIAL.SOMETIMES WHEN GOING TO THE PLACES TANKS WOULD COME OUT OF THE WOOODS AND ACROSS THE ROAD.
