The outlook bleak for GEO:
A Yellow Army in a mighty rush,
At GFJ, we kept in touch,
A little help, perhaps not much.
Twinx and Jo they laboured on,
Pleas, there were, to tell their Mum,
That they were safe, so do not fret,
Lists of names, plus their address.
Private messages, illegal, true,
We did not care, and nor would you.
Our thoughts were with those lonely men,
Tears were shed, for all of them.
All the messages were gathered in,
Taken home and neatly written out ag'in;
Dispatched with speed to Mums and Dads,
To give them hope, for their young lads.
I concealed the facts of how the message came,
I did not even sign my name.
It was not known, how those in charge,
Would view our deeds, not espionage.
GEO went off the air, silence reigned,
It seemed much worse, than later claimed.
At GFJ we missed our friends
And searched for ways to make amends.
Now as I come to the end of my time,
I wish that I had had more spine,
To sign my name and identify
Through whom there came that urgent cry.
But, if, in those hours of dire deeds,
We had helped to meet some timely needs
And to their loved ones, news and comfort given;
Then, please may my failures, all be forgiven?
