I joined the War Graves Commission in 1944 in Paris as a photographer and MT Cpl. I was posted to northern Italy and was attached to the 3rd Army as a graves photographer moving north through Austria and Bavaria as the war progressed.
I was based at that time in Brunswick where we formed 77/78 G.R.U. (graves registration unit) when the two units were given designated areas to locate and find fatalities, recover and transport to local military cemeteries.
My job was to organise the search parties, transport and re-burial.

I am from Ilford, London and joined up in late 1943 trained in Folkstone, Kent, England and Fort George, Invernessshire, Scotland.

I would be very happy to hear from former comrades or anyone who knew me at that time.
