This story was submitted to the Peoples War site by Gwen鈥檚 older brother Bill was in the police first then worked for the fire service one night he was at the docks when the Germans bombarded it while they were putting out the fire in the dock area they were machine gunned by the Germans. As her brother had not returned from worked she was worried and went down to the docks the following day to look for him as she approached the docks the whole area was devastating she walked the all the broken glass and everywhere was just flattened, she then saw a man who had worked with her son he told her that her son was ok. She then went down to Hatton Garden fire station to drop off some clean clothes and a little bit of food.
Later on in 1943 he joined the Air Force and became a navigator he told the men when and where to drop the bombs. At the end he survived the war
