In 1939 moved from Guildford to Polsue Manor Hotel near Philleigh. Went for lessons with a dear old lady at Ruan Lanihorn. Cycled from Polsue to Ruan Lanihorn over farm lanes.
It was harvest time and the Germans were machine gunning the workers in the fields.
My sister, (now Mrs S Carmichael, living in Jersey) and I, were also targetted and went under a bank to keep safe. We were very frightened.
I was educated at Truro County School which is now Sainsburys.
