The Black Sky
It was a clear day and we were playing on Alexandra Park. When we looked up the sky was completely covered with aircraft and gliders. I think they were Dakotas with the gliders behind them. We sat on the swings and just watched and watched and watched. It鈥檚 a day I鈥檒l never forget. We didn鈥檛 know where they were heading. I think it was Arnhem, when they dropped all the troops

Clifford Road School
We had air raid shelters in the school grounds and they are still there. They鈥檝e been turned into a museum and my grandson who鈥檚 8 is going with the school to visit them. We didn鈥檛 have many lessons disrupted; most of the raids were at night.
