I came to Winchester after convelescence and a medical board in which a kind lady doctor said 'I think he'll respond to treatment' as a result i was medically downgraged and posted to operate the telephone exchange togehter with two other riflemen and three ATS girls. We were attached to an American unit. At one of their dances held in the upper gymnasium I met Barbara who had been brought along by her two sisters. We were married the following September in 1945 and this year is our 60th Anniversary so i have a lot to thank Winchester and The Barracks for!
