This is a story about my great grandma , who was called Hilda Boddy.
During WW2, she had been out at the pictures when the air raid siren went off.
Instead of running to the nearest shelter that was under the market like she normally would have, she decieded to run straight home, because she only lived only a couple of streets away.
While she was running a bomb went off, and a little further along from where she was running, she saw a man who had had his legs blown off.
Whilst the bombing was going on, the air raid shelter under the market got hit, causing most or all of the people who had ran there to be killed.
My great grandma was only 18 at the time so if she had actually gone to the nearest shelter, she would also have been killed, and i wouldnt be here today!
