I had been a regular soldier since the age of 18 and was mobilised when the War started. On the 18th April 1942 I was taken prisoner of war by the Japanese at Yenn ang Yunn. We were conducting a rear guard action from Central Burma to India at the time. 750 of us marched 400 miles from Burma to India and when we arrived at the Myway airport the Japanese had just finished bombing it. I was a prisoner of war for TOO long, I cant tell you the horrific things that happened there. An acting CO from my regiment shot himself in the foot rather than face the Japs, we all knew how bad it would be.
However, India was a lovely place, I spent 6 years there in total but caught malaria 18 times.
