Uncle Jack (Mums Cousin)
by Andy Forster.

Born 1920 and named after John Comins. Joined RAF in 1940, becoming a rear gunner in a Flying Fortress of Coastal Command. Based all round the country, finally at Holt in Norfolk.

Taking off one morning the plane caught fire and crashed in a fireball. Jack was the only survivor out of a crew of 8, pulled from the wreckage by a young nurse. Spent months in hospital, ending the war there until he came home finally in late 1945.

As a good looking young chap, he ended his RAF career modelling parachutes for the MOD.
