This story has been contributed to the People's War on behalf of Edward Weaver and with his permission.

Father was in the Territorial Army and served for 30 years, ending up as a RSM. He was with the TAs at a camp in Wales when war broke out and was called straight up so he didn't come home.

He was with the Herefordshire Regiment and on D-Day was a sergeant in charge of landing craft.

He went through France, including Caen, and into Germany.
