Dec 1. Was cook until 9-15. fell in and had to muster respirators and lifebelts. Carried on part of ship. Singled up at 11am. Went to sea at 1215 doing a sweep for convoy. Kept first dog. Went to dusk action stations at 5-30 until 7pm. Kept first.

Dec 2. Kept morning watch. Very cold heavy weather all day. Kept afternoon. Swept ahead of convoy with Canarious and Antwerp. Went to dusk action stations at 1710 until 1830. kept last dog and middle.

Dec 3. Arrived in Bizerta at 6-30am. Went alongside oiler. Stbd watch fell in 8-30. Working part of ship during forenoon. Shifted from oiler at 9-15 went out and anchored in the bay. At 4-15 went about 14 miles inland and went on the lakes.

Dec 4. Working in the mess during the forenoon. Captain鈥檚 rounds at 11am. Was required at 1445 for preparing for sea. Hoisted whaler, motorboat and skiff. Went out at 4pm. Done asdic sweep all night. Kept middle. Heavy dew falling.

Dec 5. Came in harbour and oiled at 0600. Left oiler at 0815. Was cook of mess. Kept first dog in cruising. Kept first in defence. Very damp at night. Greek destroyer dropped depth charges. Visibility became very poor.

Dec 6. Kept morning watch. Broke into cruising at 7-15. Kept rest of morning on lookout. Kept last dog in defence. Working part of ship during forenoon. Exercises taking in tow. Fogy weather. Kept middle.

Dec 7. Kept forenoon in cruising until 11am, then fell out. Cleaned into rig of the day. Entered harbour at 1130. Oiled and then anchored. No leave piped. Wrote letters home. Had all night in. Stbd watch duty. 2nd.

Dec 8. Working part of ship during forenoon. Was duty part. Got inoculated at 10am. Felt a bit sickly. Turned in at 2100. leave to stbd watch from 1315 until 1800. Motorboat and whaler took liberty men off.

Dec 9. Working part of ship during forenoon. Arm much better. Had a look around the ship in afternoon. Cleaned into rig of the day at 3-40. Was required at 4pm. Went to sea at 4-30 with convoy. Kept first. Got changed into T.S.

Dec 10. Kept morning. Weather lovely and calm. Had forenoon off. Kept afternoon in defence. Convoy split up off Agusta at 1-30. remainder of convoy went west. Antwerp and our division took four troopers to Alex. Kept last dog and middle.

Dec 11. Kept forenoon. First dog and first. Slight swell running. Calmed down during the first. Sighted land about 9pm off Derna coast. All quiet during the day and night. Full moon, like a day.

Dec 12. Kept morning watch. No water on. Had a job to get the dinner up. Broke into cruising stations at 1020. Dropped depth charges at 1130, got nothing. Kept afternoon in cruising. Kept last dog and middle in defence.

Dec 13. Cruising stations during forenoon. Was cook of mess, no water on. Passed first channel buoy at 9-25. Arrived in harbour at 1030. went alongside oiler. Left at 1pm and went alongside new depot ship Blenheim. Leave to port watch until 0700. Didn鈥檛 go.

Dec 14. Received six letters one Xmas card. Working part of ship during forenoon. Got paid at 1230. Leave to stbd watch from 1315 until 0700. Weather very warm during the day. Make and mend in the afternoon. 2nd port duty. Wrote letter to dad. Had all night in.

Dec 15. Cleaned out freshwater tanks during forenoon also a part of afternoon up until 2pm then finished. Was duty part. Was required at 5pm to shift all gear from stbd side to port side of ship in forhead mess deck. Finished at 8pm.

Dec 16. Was cook of mess until 0730 then went working in the funnel, raining all the time. Doubled up on manila and wires on fxle and G.D. Blowing pretty hard. Finished for the day at 1130. Went ashore at 4pm. Got measured for suit. Went to pictures.

Dec 17. Came off shore at 7am. Done cook of mess. Going to shift ship at 9am but was cancelled. Working on funnel after stand easy. Shifted ship at 1230 for to go alongside Erich. Duty part. Shifted gear from port side to stbd fore mess deck, finished at 6-30pm.

Dec 18. Was cook of mess until 0915. Shifted ship at 0730. Another destroyer came between us and Erich. Finished working at 12am. Didn鈥檛 go ashore. All night in.

Dec 19. Went to mass at 0945. came back at 12am. Had dinner. Went on four days at 1230 to the rest hostel. Arrived there at 2-45. Went ashore at 3-45 went to the Rio and saw Hallo Frisco. Came back at 1030, had eats at United Services.

Dec 20. Had breakfast at 0800. Went and got a cycle and cycled outside Alex. Came back at 1130 had tot lovely rum. Had a pint and dinner. Slept in afternoon. Went ashore at 5pm saw Holliday Inn. Came back at 1030.

Dec 21. had breakfast at 0800. Went out cycling at 0930. went to Abokir saw cotter. Lovely weather. Came back had tot and dinner. Went ashore in afternoon saw Immortal Sergeant. Went up club had a few drinks. Came back at 11pm.

Dec 22. Went up to 64th to see O鈥橩eefe had tea in canteen. Came back at 1145 raining all the time. Had tot and dinner. Had a lay down until 3pm. Got ready had tea party outside Alex, lovely time. Went to concert at 64th.

Dec 23. Had breakfast at 8, got ready. Went out for a walk. Left the camp at 11am. Came back to the ship at 12am. Done washing. Went ashore at 4-15 for new suit. Went to pictures at 6-30. slept in annex.

Dec 24. Came off shore at 0700. Working part of ship during forenoon. Had dinner at 1200. Turned to finished funnel. At 2-30 pipe down. Done washing. Wrote a letter home. Had all night in.

Dec 25. Christmas day, went to mass at 0900. Came back at 1130 had tot. All mess decorated with flags. Everyone merry. Had lovely dinner, turkey, Xmas pudding, mince pies. Had a few drinks after supper. Singing until past midnight.

Dec 26. Went to mass at 0900. Came back at 11am. Had dinner. Went ashore at 5-15pm. Went to the club at 7pm. Had a party. Big eats, had plenty of beer. Two much. Sing song until about 1130. Gave a song. Slept in annex.

Dec 27. was bad after the beer, reached about 8 times during the morning. Went for stores over to 46 shed in forenoon. Got head down in afternoon. Cotter came aboard at 4 until 5-45. Turned in early.

Dec 28. was cook of mess. Went into dock at 8-30. was scraping flagstaff. Was duty part. Working in afternoon. Didn鈥檛 have a sentry. Had all night in. Wrote three letters home.

Dec 29. Still in port. Was skiffs crew. Went on a trip to coaling jetty. Had rest of the forenoon off. Painted ship in the afternoon. Went ashore at 4-15 took suit to be altered. Went to pictures saw Mr Big. Saw Cotter in club.

Dec 30. came off duty 4pm? Came out of dock at 8-30 went to a buoy head and stern. Working on the wires until 11am. Got 400 rounds of ammunition in, new flashless. Was working in afternoon. Finished at 4pm. Turned in at 2145.

Dec 31. Shifted ship to swing compasses at 7-20am. Was cook until 10. Went part of ship. Got paid at 1130. Went outside the harbour at 1pm. Done degaussing for an hour. Came in. Secured to a buoy. Went to sea at 1700. Went at 19 kts to Tobruk. Kept first and morning. Got rough during the middle.
