My Father made an air raid shelter underground. When the siren went, we went down there with a Thermos Flask. We heard the aeroplanes going over to bomb Birmingham. The Doodlebugs also went over. The nearest to us was in the fields (Billybridge). I was living at Charlton Kings,Glos. I was on fire watch, with tin helmets, gas masks, etc. We did two hour stretches at a time. Dad had a large billiard table and sometimes we sheltered under that.
I had the last Iced Wedding Cake made by Brunners.
