I have so many stories but I'll just tell one.

Once, a doodle bug hit our house and my brother, who was a rear gunner in the Royal Lancasters was called to come home. While he was with us his plane went out and no one ever heard again from them. So, he was saved.

Later, his plane was hit and everyone bailed out except him and the pilot, Frederick Hill. All of them died. Eventually my brother's plane crash landed and my brother and the pilot were saved.

Last year, Frederick Hill's family contacted my son - they're now living in New Zealand and it was wonderful to hear from the family that saved my brother.
