GLYN HOUSE, BODMIN.
I was also stationed at Glyn House, Bodmin, the home of Lady Vivian, which the navy took over for the duration of the war, it was used for confidential book correcting, this was guarded by Royal Marines. The house was alive with huge rats that probably came out of the river. You could hear the rats chewing through the wood doors, and in the morning you could see the pieces of wood that the rats had chewed on during the night.
Where Trago Mills is now, in the Glyn Valley, was used during the war as a store, by the Navy. This was for the issue of uniforms and shoes to the navy.
While leaving Glyn House one day, a group of Wrens were fired upon by a German plane, in the drive with machine guns, but luckily, no one was injured, this was just after the air raid on Bodmin, which killed many people, and demolished houses by what is now known as Dennison Road.
