The Red Cross used to practice on me, pretending I had different things wrong with me, sometimes they would have me on a stretcher.
We had a lot of Americans arrived and they put up tents all over the farm - they were always very generous. There was one field where they did square bashing and another which they used for baseball. They used to give me rides in a jeep.
We also had evacuees on the farm and in the area. At Carsella Farm we had two school masters with their wives. I kept in touch with them for many years.
We were given a quota of potatoes and grain - I ploughed a lot of fields when I was younger.
