I was born in 1939 and I remember the attack on the Potton Petrol Dump, between Sandy and Potton. A string of bombs hit Sandy Recreation Ground. I was 3 or 4 years old and lived about 200 yards and remember the thud and the explosion, my mother grabbing me by the scruff of the neck and shoving me under the kitchen table.
