Oct 1. Still with convoy. Submarines reported in vicinity. All quiet during the day and night.

Oct 2. Off Mersa Metruh. Kept first dog, all quiet.

Oct 3. Arrived in Alex at 11am. Leave to stbd watch from 1815 0700. Wrote letters. Had all night in.

Oct 4. Went on 48hrs leave from 1515 until 1200 on Wednesday. Went to pictures in afternoon saw Deanna in The Amazing Mrs Holliday. Went to the Rio saw Commando strike at dawn. Went up the club after. Slept in Salvation.

Oct 5. Got up 9am had breakfast. Went for a swim down Chatby. Went out to sea & Keefee went swimming after dinner. Came back to the club at 9pm. Met Cotter. Turned in at 10pm.

Oct 6. Got up at 9am had breakfast. Got some birthday cards. Came back aboard at 1115. Turned too in the afternoon painting ship. Shifted ship. Dido came alongside the wall. We went alongside her. Went to pictures on 8?

Oct 7. Painting ship. Shifted ship again at 6-30am. Aurora went alongside wall. We went alongside her. Saw pictures on her from our own ship.

Oct 8. Still painting ship. Stbd watch came off cents? At 1200. Both watches required in afternoon. Finished painting. Went ashore at 4-15 had photo taken. Saw O鈥橬eil. Slept at the Canal Hotel.

Oct 9. Went to sea at 0900 with Belvoir cruiser and two P boats. Destination Podecane? Intercept convoy of ships making invasion on Leros. At 9pm operation cancelled. Had to join to escort Carlisle as she was hit, other two P boats had to carry on. Cruiser turned back. Phator sunh?

Oct 10. Picked up Carlisle at 0800 with Rockwood also two P boats. Rockwood taking her in tow back to Alex. Arrived in Alex at 8pm. Oiled. Went to a buoy. Leave to stbd watch.

Oct 11. Went to a buoy at 6-30 alongside Woolwich. Got generator fixed.

Oct 12. Done a full caliber shoot at 8am. H.A. and L.A. had to come in harbour at 5-30 no leave. Went alongside oiler. Stayed there all night. Went to a buoy in morning.

Oct 13. At a buoy. Leave to the stbd watch was duty part. Had a lot of work to do. Swimming in the afternoon. Had all night in.

Oct 14. Stbd watch took the ship to sea at 0600. went with cruiser, tow fleet destroyers and Belvoir destination Dopecanese Isles. Patrol for enemy convoys. Action stations all night. Bombarded Leros islands, not much opposition.

Oct 15. Finished patrol at 5-30 went into Turkish territorial waters. Proceeded to sea at 8-30. Was spotted by enemy aircraft and dive-bombed for three hours by 88鈥檚 87鈥檚. No damage T.G.(thank God) our objective was to destroy enemy convoy.

Oct 16. Left the patrol at 9pm. Steamed back to Alex. Action stations all night. Broke into defence at 4am. Never sighted convoy. Kept forenoon in cruising. Arrived in Alex at 4pm. Went ashore at 4-50 until 0700. Went to pictures.

Oct 17. came off shore at 0800 still fuzing shells. Got paid at 1200. leave to stbd watch from 1315 until midnight. Shifted ship alongside jetty. Got 20 ton of stores onboard for Leros also for Fury and Hurworth.

Oct 18. Went to sea at 0600. kept first dog. Landing the stores was cancelled but we are carrying out a bombardment at 1-30am with Hurworth. Fired. Cruiser and Fury went to the other end of the island.

Oct 19. Finished bombardment at 2am. Dropped delayed action depth charges, went off an hour later. Enemy gave some opposition, there were no hits T.G(thank God). Steamed back at full speed. Destination Castelar Isl to unload stores. With Fibi, Fury, Hurworth and Beaufort.

Oct 20. The above was cancelled. We oiled off cruiser in T(Turkish) waters. Fury and us went back to Leros that night to land stores. Cruiser and Hurworth left us at dusk. We got bombed at about 1230 dropped flares. Was fed up. They couldn鈥檛 take stores at Leros. Had to go to Turkish waters. Landed stores at 2100 at Leros.

Oct 21. On our way back we opened up at coast at 26 kts. Fired 84 rounds. A lot of star shell and flares were being dropped away astern. Quite a lot of bombing going on. We slowed down at 5am, met Aurora and Hunt. Speed 21 kts for Alex. Arrived at 5-30pm.

Oct 22. Went to a buoy during the forenoon. Ammunitioned ship during forenoon. Went ashore at 1-15. Went out to see O鈥橩eefe. Went to the pictures at 6-30 to Royal. Slept at canal Hotel. Came off shore 0700.

Oct 23. Working part of ship, no rounds. Leave to the stbd watch at 1-15 until 2230. Wrote two letters. Had all night in. BT gear ready for divisions.

Oct 24. Went to mass at 0900 at St. Francis. Came back at 1130. went ashore at 1-15. Went up Fr. Donoughues. Met Cotter. We had tea and went to the pictures at 6-30. Went up club at 8pm, had a few beers, met O鈥橩eefe there. Left at 10pm came aboard.

Oct 25. Went to sea at 3am with Belvoir and Falconer, destination Popeconese. Met Fibi at 5pm. Patrolled around islands. Cruiser went on her own.

Oct 26. Went into Turkish territorial waters at 0600, stayed there all day. Signal received at 1030, proceed to sea at 11pm. Went to action stations all night. All quiet.

Oct 27. Met cruiser and two more Hunts at 6-30 set course for Alex. Broke into cruising stations during forenoon. Had an alarm at 2pm, our own fighters. Kept last dog. Arrived in Alex at 7-30pm. Oiled alongside Belvoir.

Oct 28. Went to a buoy at 7am. Working part of ship during forenoon. Went ashore at 1-15 lost 拢2-4s on Felucca. Went to the pictures at 3-15. met cotter up the R.C. club. Had a few bottles. Slept in Canal Hotel.

Oct 29. Came off shore at 7-30. painting ship during forenoon. Make and mend in afternoon. Done dhobeing. Got one Jeep onboard also two collapsible boats and 60 Greek commandoes. Went to sea at 2145 with Petard and Belvoir.

Oct 30. Kept middle in cruising. Went to defence stations during forenoon at 3-30. Four bombs dropped off Aurora. Went to action stations. Got attacked at 4pm by 15 Stuka鈥檚. Hit Aurora. We stood by her, other two went on. Got attacked 3 times.

Oct 31. Belvoir got unexploded bomb. Had to come back. We steamed back to Alex with Cruiser, she buried her dead during forenoon, 40 killed 20 injured. Arrived in Alex at 1200. Oiled and went out at 1800 with cruiser Fibi also destroyers Dulverton and Pindus. Kept last dog.

Nov 1. Kept forenoon in cruising. Weather very rough, everything wet. Kept first dog in defence. Clocks went back one hr. Went to action stations at 8pm. All quiet during the night. Unidentified aircraft flew over at midnight.

Nov 2. Went into Turkish waters at about 2-30am. Broke into defence stations at 5-30am. Kept afternoon. Went out at 6pm. Went to action stations. Arrived at Leros at 1-30am. Weather rough.

Nov 3. Landed Greek commandos and stores at 2am. Brought wounded Iti鈥檚 aboard. Left at 2-30 am. Some Italian stretcher-bearers were left aboard. Arrived in territorial waters at 5am. Went to defence. Left at 6pm. Action stations. 23 kts to Alex.

Nov 4. Broke into defence at 4am. Heavy swell still running. Kept morning. Broke into cruising stations at 10am. Arrived at Alex at 5-30pm. Landed wounded. Went alongside oiler. Stayed there all night. Leave to stbd watch 0700.

Nov 5. Went to a buoy at 0800. Was changing motorboat falls. Went ashore at 1-15, got paid at 1245. Went out B.A.O. put 30/in? Went to the pictures at 6-30 saw (Reap the wild wind). Went up club after. Slept in Canal Hotel.

Nov 6. Came off shore at 0700. Was cook until 10am. Commander Boss went rounds at 11am. Everyone at divisions. Finished at 1145. leave to stbd watch from 1315 until 2230. Was duty part. Wrote letters home and sent some photos to Dad and Aunt Nora.

Nov 7. Went ashore to church at 8-45 came off at 1130. Went ashore at 4-15. Went to benediction at 6-30. Went up club at 7pm. Met cotter had a bottle. Went aboard at 2250.

Nov 8. Working part of ship during forenoon. Had make and mend until 1500. port watch was required to secure for sea. Went out at 1530 with Falconer, Pindus. Had 16 pongo鈥檚 aboard. Kept last dog in cruising. Had all night in. Sea calm.

Nov 9. Arrived in Cyprus at 0600, stbd watch took ship alongside oiler. Finished oiling at 8-45. Went and anchored. Proceeded to sea at 1130. Kept watch until 1230. Had scare. Own aircraft. Met Penelope. 23 kts. Turned back at 3pm. Oiled. Done patrol till midnight then anchored.

Nov 10. Turned in at 1215am. Got up at 0700. Worked part of ship until 9am. Went alongside oiler. Left and proceeded to sea at 11am. Kept afternoon in defence. Weather choppy. We had 9 fighters up. Kept last dog. Went to action stations at 10pm. RAF bombing Rhodes.

Nov 11. At ?-30 plane dropped stick of bombs off our port quarter. Bombarded Kos at 4am. No opposition. RAF bombing airfield kept enemy aircraft down. Went into territorial waters at 6am. Left at 12pm. Went into another creek.

Nov 12. Got into creek at 2-30am anchored. Kept morning in defence. Kept afternoon. Went out at 6pm. Leros invaded at 5am by airborne and sea borne troops, 2 battalions and 6 the next day. We went out to intercept any craft, known to be four destroyers and F boats E boats. We bombarded Leros.

Nov 13. Still on patrol off Leros. Fighting going on ashore all night. We saw no craft were glad to get back to Turkish waters at 6am. Gale blowing up, had to go in another creek. Went out at dusk. Was going to bombard enemy position on Leros but was cancelled T.G. Carried on to Cyprus.

Nov 14. Broke into defence at 5-15am. Saw RAF bombing Rhodes. Weather very rough. Kept afternoon in cruising arrived at Cyprus at 4pm. Oiled off Cherry Leaf. Got spuds and fruit aboard. Proceeded to Alex at 6-30pm. Kept last dog and middle.

Nov 15. Arrived in Alex at 8-30am. Oiled. Went to a buoy. Cook of the mess all forenoon. Got paid at 1230 went ashore at 1-15. went out to O鈥橩eefe. Went to pictures at 6-30 to mohamadaly? Met ch sto? at club. Went down to canal Hotel at 10pm. Slept ashore.

Nov 16. Came off leave at 0730. Cook of mess all forenoon. Done dhobing in afternoon. Wrote letters also sent Mass cards. Non-duty part. Had all night in.

Nov 17. Working part of ship during forenoon. Working on carley floats. Went ashore at 4-15. Done hammock and wrote letters in afternoon. Went to the pictures at the royal at 6-50 saw Lana T. C Gable. Went up club at 9pm. Went aboard at 1030.

Nov 18. Port watch was required at 0445, took ship to sea with five other destroyers to convoy 10 merchant ships. Working forenoon. Kept afternoon in cruising. Stbd watch went to defence at dusk. Kept last dog and middle.

Nov 19. Stbd watch broke into cruising at 7am. Was cook of mess during forenoon. Weather lovely. Kept first dog. Clocks went back one hour at 6pm. Relieved at 5-30. kept first all quiet. Passed Benghazi during the first.

Nov 20. kept morning weather coming up rough. Broke into cruising at 6-30. kept rest of morning. Turned to at 9-15 had to scrub outside of motor boat. Kept last dog and middle. Weather very dull had a few showers.

Nov 21. Went to cruising stations during the forenoon. Entered channel at 9am, but had to go out to look for subs with Palladin, Canarius, Brockelsby. Out all day. Kept first and morning. Didn鈥檛 get anything.

Nov 22. Kept morning. Weather very dull and miserable. Broke into cruising stations at 7am. Heavy swell still running. Was cook during forenoon. Kept afternoon in cruising. Went into harbour at 4pm. Oiled. Stayed alongside all night.

Nov 23. Shifted ship at 5-30 went alongside wall. Was duty destroyer. Raining all forenoon. Finished work at 11am, went ashore at 1pm. Came back at 1-45. had all night in.

Nov 24. Working part of ship during forenoon. Make and mend in the afternoon. Visitors came aboard at 3pm. Were showed around the ship. Was duty part. Had all night in. leave to stbd watch until 2100.

Nov 25. Working until 12am. Went ashore at 1-15 had a look around the town. Came back aboard at 5-30pm. Had a few drinks of Marsala wine. Turned in at 9pm. All quiet during the night.

Nov 26. Working part of ship during forenoon. Was duty part. Made up parcel. Kept sentry on jetty from 10pm until 12. weather cold and dry. Leave to stbd watch from 1815 until 2100.

Nov 27. Was cook of mess until 10am then cleaned into rig of the day. Went to sea at 1030, took convoy of troops 10 in all. Also escort of five Hunts. Kept rest of forenoon in defence. Kept first dog first. Weather showery. Very cold.

Nov 28. Kept morning watch. Weather very cold. Sea slightly rough. Kept afternoon. Went into Bizerta Bay gave Colombo her mail. Rejoined convoy again. Went to dusk action stations at 1705 until 1830. kept last dog and middle. All quiet during the night.

Nov 29. Kept afternoon in defence. Increased speed in afternoon. Arrived in Algiers at 4pm. Got a sealed message to deliver to Colombo. Came back into harbour again, tied up alongside the wall. Stbd watch duty. Had all night in.

Nov 30. Working part of ship during forenoon. Shifted ship at 1230, went stern to the wall with Belvoir. Leave to the stbd watch from 2pm until 2100. Was duty part. Got canteen stores in. Had all night in.
