The warriors of a mighty race
had heard a nation's plea.
Come and help us from the fury
and the might of Germany.
For the second time the British
marched out to Belgium's aid
but found this time to their despair
that thet had been betrayed.

And then began a grim nightmare
to fight their way back home
to reach gain their old front line,
while far across the foam
their premier's brow was dark and sad,
he feared for tidings hard,
disaster dire their lot for sure
when all escape seemed barred.

Twas then the Navy showed them how
the hopeless was achieved,
the stately yacht the fishing smack
an SOS received,
Come help us with a job of work,
the BEF needs aid,
in river boats they crossed the seas
and not a man afraid.

Through fires of hell, through shot and shell,
the rescue carried on
till there remained upon that beach
of men to save, not one.
Destroyer, cruiser, steamer, smack,
they all had done their share,
upholding British prestige high,
Britannia's sons were there

If Nelson were alive today
and treading Britain's shore,
we know that once again he's say
as in the days of yore,
at honour's call, each man withall
for England, home and beauty,
at Dinkirk in the hour of need
the NAvy did it's duty.
