Wartime Wedding ; Just us Girls Muckin鈥 About
One evening we were bored stationed miles away in from civilization
So we decided to have some fun and someone said, 鈥淟ets have a Mock
Wedding.鈥 We dressed up using sheets, towels and curtains,
and we had a great time dancing and drinking Tea and Lemonade.
When Winter came, the powers to be decided that we should be
moved I was very lucky to be billeted with Farmer and Family who were Very kind and taught me a great deal about animal Farming. Certainly different to the Field I was doing during the day
Churchill
That afternoon, which was a Saturday an elderly gentleman who lived near us Peabody Avenue said, 鈥楲ook who鈥檚 here?鈥 It was Winston Churchill walking through our estate! Churchill was very kind and spoke to everybody who wanted to talk to him. Everybody was very proud that our prime minister would take time out to come and see US!
Mum Was Always Right!
Back to my bag of food. Neither my sister or I saw any of it. My Mum told both of us that we would be fed when we went back to our postings but that there were people on the estate who really needed that food far more than we did. When I saw some of my neighbours who had lost their homes I really couldn鈥檛 argue with Mum. I knew she was right.
