I had relatives living in Liverpool and Manchester. I had cousins in the Army, Navy and RAF. Unfortunately, the one in the Navy did not come home. He was a casualty of the war. The others survived, thankfully.

Three of my brothers joined the Irish Army. We lived near the sea and I can remember the "lookout" huts near the cliffs where the soldiers kept watch for any strange ships passing by.
