The barges used to come from Hull down the Trent to Lincoln stopping off at Torksey Lock and Saxilby fertiliser works.
The barges carried corn, raw materials to go to the mill at Lincoln. They used to take potash, phosphate, rock and copper to L/K fertilisers at Saxilby.
They used to have long white sails. If there wasn't any wind the men would pull them with a rop walking on the pathway whilst the women steered. They never let us down and were always more or less on time each visit.
