I was living in Blackfordby which is two miles from Ashby-De-La-Zouch, Leicestershire.
I can remember seeing the fires as Birmingham was bombed.
I was married in 1941 and still live in the same house.
We had two evacuees from North London.
One stayed a long time and after the war cycled all the way from London to see us.
My husband was a miner at Moira, Leicesteshire so he was exempt from the War.
He was 10 years older than me and we had one son who is now 61 years old - I am 90 years old (2005) and is a Deputy Head Teacher.
