I was on my way to school with my friend it was a fine sunny day, when suddenly we heard a noise. We looked upand saw a stray plane. We could even see the pilot's face and thought he was smiling, but he was actually shooting. As we had done drill at school we jumped over a wall that had recently had railings removed for the war effort and lay there for a while. When it was quiet we decided to go to school and on arrival we were told off for going to school in an air raid, but the sirens didnt sound as it was just a stray plane. My friend and I were 12 at the time.
