My Mum and Dad lived at Hilders Bungalow, Redding Street on the Appledore Road out of Tenterden.
Dad was in the Home Guard in Tenterden Church spires looking out for German Bombers.
The army was on manoevres and landed in the front garden for the evening before they went off. Mum and Dad had the boss's phone and the army commandeered it. She had a soldier there listening in for army. He boarded for a while but he had army rations. You're supposed to lie in a ditch or hollow if there is an air raid. So one man did it; shrapnel came down the ditch and took every bit of clothing off! He went to the shepherds' huts in Romney Marsh for a bit of sacking!
