While living at Kings Dyke my dear Aunt Agnes lived at home and she had this habit of forever sharpening the carving knife until one day Grandmother lost her cool and said "What do you keep doing that for?" Aunt's answer was "I'm keeping it sharp for when those Germans come." "Oh" said Gran, "are you going to kill them then?" "No" was the retort, "it's for him, I will cut his throat rather than let the Germans get him."
What nicer aunt could a nephew have than that, to think of me first. Mind you I watched her like a hawk every time we had a roast for dinner and the carving knife came out!!!
