I started to work for Brittan Pash in Market Road in 1941, working on farm equipment (aged 14) with a man named Ernie Candler from Roxwell. One night a bomb fell in King Edward Avenue, our manager (Who lived in a house attached to the site) was killed and all the glass in the workshop was blown out!
