I was born in Marfleet down Frodsham Street and lived there with Mam and Dad, Winnie, Henry, Annie and Alan. Towards the end of the War I tried to get into the Royal Air Force but failed my medical. I thought I would have failed the exams but I had a perforated eardrum. I went to work on munitions at Cleck Heaton and after a year I came home. I had a choice of jobs, to Humber Supply or Seven Seas - Cod Liver Oil. I chose Seven Seas and stayed there 39 years until I retired.
