Mother worked for Mitchells and Butlers brewers, after doing a late night shift she was returning home, and heard the sound of an engine, she looked up to see an aircraft firing ack ack guns just missing her, fortunately and to this day a line of bullet holes is still in the Ladies toilet wall opposite the old Smethwick Market
