On arriving in Argatala (Bengal) I was sent to an AMES School which turned out to be an amphibious tank with radar, very hush, hush!
I had never driven a tank before but I got about two hours tuition. I then got sent to medical school for half a day, and to cookery school for half a day.
I finished up driver, operator and medic and was send to a unit and was send to a unit of one sergeant, two corporals and nine men. I was one of the corporals.
Down the Arakan Coast I was called out of Burma to join the Tiger Task Force to invade Singapore just as the atom bomb dropped.
I was sent to Paya Leba POW camp to relieve Pows and to police the Japanese soldiers who were now the POW鈥檚.
